The products that say, “Earn $30,000 in one month”, and etc. If marketing was this easy, then everybody would be doing it – and the less small business owners would be going out of business. This is a claim that you should definitely ignore if you want to see success in your business.

Instead, know that it takes time to build a business. Sure you can use direct response marketing to see immediately if your ad is working or not, but to make your business a success, you will need to run that ad in more than one publication. This is the fastest way to see results (and to make more money in your business).

There are all kinds of products that promise you the world when it comes to making your business a success. I just saw an ad for this guy who was selling a course on pay per view marketing. This guy said he was able to make $20,000 a month using this simple medium alone.

Now needless to say, I immediately exited from this guy’s website because I know that his technique was full of bull, and that it was attain market saturation sooner rather later. It’s ads like these that causes me to feel disgusted with those folks who claim that they can get you overnight wealth. Here’s another mistake that most small business owners make:

2) Not contacting your customer

Do you know that for every customer that you acquire, you’ve lost money to get them? The only way to turn a profit from these customers is if you sell to them again immediately, and get another order. In fact, 80% of your total business profits will come from making money from your recurring customers.
